East 89th St Apartment, NY, 2007

This Carnegie Hill residence is located in a handsome 12-story building erected in 1925. It is architecturally influenced by the Belle Époque, neo-classical styles of the turn of the century. The owners had a very specific mandate for the gut renovation of this 2600 square foot apartment. The final result had to be “light, aerie, restrained, uncluttered, peaceful, appropriate to the “Pre-War” context and grown-up without becoming dowdy and predictable”. They hoped that this mandate could be balanced with an “atmosphere of creativity” and “just a little bit of luxury”. *In collaboration with IAD.
